GarageDoorMatch

How a request becomes a phone call, and who pays whom

GarageDoorMatch is a referral service. We are not a garage door company, we employ no technicians, and we do not do or answer for any work. We write guides about garage door safety, permits and costs, and we pass your request to an independent garage door company that has agreed to receive it. This page says exactly what happens, and where the money comes from.

What happens when you send a request

  1. 01
You give us what the door is doing, your ZIP code and a way to reach you.We keep the request, the time, your IP address and the exact consent wording you agreed to, so there is a record of what you asked for and what you said yes to.
  2. 02
We send it to one independent garage door company that serves your ZIP.That may be a company we deal with directly, or a referral partner that places requests with the companies it works with. The consent line on the form says a referral partner may act for the company. Either way the request goes to a single company.
  3. 03
The company contacts you.You agree the work and the price with it. GarageDoorMatch is not part of that agreement, and the company answers for the work.
  4. 04
If nobody contacts you, no company took the request. That can happen on an unusual job or in a ZIP code few companies cover. Treat it as unmatched and use the guides and your city's building office to find a company yourself.

What we check, and what we do not

What we check is listed first, and what is left for you comes after it.

We check
  • Every safety, permit and licensing statement on the site links to the rule, statute or official page it came from, and a fact we cannot source is left out. Where we could not confirm a detail on the source's own page, the sentence says so and tells you whom to ask.
  • Cost figures are labelled as estimates and say how they were built.
We do not
  • We do not inspect, rate or answer for any company's work, and we do not publish reviews of garage door companies.
  • We do not set or negotiate prices.
  • We do not promise a company will call, that one serves your address, or that it holds any license, registration or insurance. Ask, and check what it tells you.

Ask what license the company holds, if any

Whether garage door work needs a license of its own can depend on where you live, and in the state we cover first we could not tell from the official pages whether a general builder license applies. So ask three plain questions: does the company hold a license or registration for this work, what is the number, and which agency issued it. Then look the number up with that agency. Our guides explain what the sources settle and where they leave a question open.

Your information

Your request goes to the company described above and to the vendors that run our forms, hosting and call tracking. Depending on where you live, privacy laws let you ask what we hold and ask us to delete it, and the sharing that some laws treat as a sale can be switched off on the Do Not Sell or Share page. The privacy policy is the controlling document.
